Bernice Esther (Ahlhorn) Buddenberg, 88, of Brenham, the widow of William D. “Jake” Buddenberg, died Dec. 29, 2014, at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service was 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem with Pastor Jill Vivroux officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Buddenberg was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Bleiblerville, Austin County, TX, to John A. and Erna (Ander) Ahlhorn. She was baptized June 14, 1927 in Round Top and was educated in Austin County schools. On March 17, 1946, she was married to William “Jake” Buddenberg at Welcome by Pastor Walter Wolf. She was a seamstress for Nat’s Tiny Tots before she and her husband purchased Grimm’s Radiator and General Repair in September 1970. In 1994, the business became J&B Repair, where she was bookkeeper and partner until her husband’s death in 1998. Mrs. Buddenberg enjoyed dancing and listening to all kinds of music, particularly polkas and waltzes. She enjoyed watching baseball games, including Little League teams, Brenham Cubs and Houston Astros. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joys, and she often attended their school and athletic events. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, where she was a member of the circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. Mrs. Buddenberg enjoyed traveling, especially with her daughters to the reunions of the 78th Fighter Group, of which her husband was a member. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Sharon Ann Jasinski of Brenham, Sandra Faye Teufel of Brenham and Cynthia Lynn and David Tharp of El Lago; grandchildren, Rhonda Michelle Craigen, Larissa Ann and Eric Olson, John Christopher and Jessica Teufel, Bradley Wayne and Amy Jasinski, all of Brenham, Anthony Scott and Erika Jasinski of Austin, and Jamie Lynn Teufel and JaMichael Williams of Katy; great-grandchildren, Cassidy Devere Craigen and longtime boyfriend Matt Green, Tristan William Teufel, Shelby Ann Olson, Amy Catherine Teufel, Jake Eric Olson, Della Elaine Jasinski, Briley Wayne Jasinski, Evan Scott Jasinski, Michael James Williams and Mallorie Jade Williams; nieces, Myrna and Kenneth Foster of Runge and Patricia Parma of Richmond; and a host of other relatives and good friends. She was preceded in death by her sons, Ronald William and Scott David Buddenberg; husband, William D. “Jake” Buddenberg; granddaughter, Amy Nicole Teufel; her parents; brothers, Clarence Ahlhorn and Dennis Ahlhorn and wife Irene; sons-in-law, Dewayne Jasinski and Odis Teufel; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frederich “Fritz” and Minnie Buddenberg. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, Brenham Hospice or the charity of your choice.
