Richard (Dick) Abner Henry, Jr, 84, saw his final sunset on March 18, 2024, in San Felipe, Texas. Richard was born April 15, 1939, in McKees Rocks, PA to parents Richard Abner Henry, Sr. and Marie Henry Yost. To his friends and family, he was known as Dick and his grandchildren he was simple known as Popeye.
He proudly served as an electrician’s mate in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1960 aboard the USS Oriskany. He later married Norma Jean Lalonde Latiolais on September 1, 1973. He was a master electrician, electrical engineer, an avid bowler, hunter, and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed traveling with his family both domestically and internationally. A little-known fact about him, he was the lead electrician for the wiring of both the Astrodome and Astro World. Richard is survived by his spouse of 50 years, Norma Henry, daughter Jody Jean Whitlock (Michael), grandchildren Amber Whitlock Maul (Donald); Katherine Whitlock Baraks (Jacob); great-granddaughter Emma Maul; great-grandson Charlie Baraks and sister Terryle Henry Topham to cherish his memories. He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard Abner Henry, Sr. and Marie Henry Yost; step-father Francis A. Yost; a son: Curt (Butch) Latiolais, a brother Tommy Henry; in-laws: Clifton and Adelaide LaLonde; sister-in-law Joyce Dietz Lalonde; brother-in-law Paul Topham and great-grandsons: Thomas Ryan Baraks and Michael Gregory Baraks.
