Funeral services for Vernon Charles Graf, 83, of Bellville were held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 2 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jennie Jones and the Rev. David Henske, officiating. Interment followed in Oak Knoll Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mark Francis, Michael Leal, John McCullough, Fernando Villanueva, Gray Frank, Dusty Falk and Raymond Brugger. Honorary Pallbearers were Newman's Bakery Coffee Group. Vernon was born to parents, Philip Graf and Lily Weistruck Graf on Nov. 24, 1925 in Bellville. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Vernon attended Piney School and later served in the U.S. Army infantry from 1944 to 1948. On Nov. 28, 1948 Vernon was united in marriage to Miss Beth Brugger. Vernon was employed by the Texas Department of Transportation before retiring May 30, 1986. Vernon passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in Bellville. He is survived by his wife, Beth Graf of Bellville, nieces, nephews, and friends. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jeanette Horn.
