Augusta Rose Hering of Sealy, Texas went to be with Jesus last Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the age of 84. Rose was born on June 3, 1929 to Maria and Frank Zapalac. The second youngest of 10 children, she grew up in Frydek, Texas. The twice crowned Kolache Queen of Fort Bend County had a miracle green thumb, and loved spending time outside in her garden. Even as cherished as her beautiful zinnias and vegetables were, though, the Austin County Mother of the Year always allowed any of her 9 grandchildren to use her garden to make mud pies whenever necessary. She was always outside and could often be found swinging on the porch at coffee time, holding hands with the love of her life, her sweetheart of 61 years, Earl Dee. She had an unmatched spark and zest for life, which always left an impression on any that met Momma Rose. She was a strong believer in celebrating each and every day, and adamant that pie and putting on lipstick could fix just about any problem. Rose is preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her 9 brothers and sisters, and her first born son, Earl Dee Jr. She is survived, missed, celebrated, and loved by her husband Earl Dee, her children Roger Hering (KHS class of 1974), Rose Bean 77, Lisa Wilson 80, and Lori Worrell 84, sons-in-law Jim Bean, Steve Wilson, and Randy Worrell, her 9 grandchildren Katy, Christina, Jennifer, Matthew, Sam, Meagan, Nathan, and Rainey, Mitchell and wife Laura, and her great-granddaughter Alyssa. Donations in her honor and memory can be made to: Immaculate Conception Church, 608 5th St., Sealy, Texas 77474 Contributor: Dan Vacek (47672891) • dvacek50@hotmail.com |
