Betty Lucile Luedecke, 83, of Sealy, TX, was born to Bernard and Alvine (Schroeder) Frank on August 20, 1931 in Bellville, TX and died May 26, 2015 in Katy, TX. She was baptized on November 22, 1931 and confirmed on March 25, 1945 in St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellville. She was married to Earl C. Luedecke on November 13, 1948 in St. John's and, except for four years when Earl was in the U.S. Air Force, they spent their entire married life in Sealy. Betty was a past president and secretary of the Sealy Women's Bowling Association, past president of the Sealy Fireman's Auxiliary, and a life member of the Sealy American Legion Auxiliary in which she served 12 terms as President. She also served in several other offices and conducted patriotic programs at the Sealy Schools for over 25 years. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout's leader and organized and was the adult leader of the Sealy American Legion Junior Unit for many years. She was also a long time member of the Sealy Rotary Club and was given honorary status. She and her husband also sang in the Trinity Lutheran choir for 30 years.
Betty worked at various jobs, in Sealy, and she owned and operated her own insurance agency from her home for several years. After selling her agency, she worked for other agencies for many years. She was a nurse's aide at the Sealy Hospital and then did coding and insurance work as a clerk at the hospital. She also worked for Drs. Gordon, Smith, Longhi, and Fernandez. Later she became office manager for Dr. Campo and Dr. Fernandez. Always interested in travel, after Betty left the medical profession, she attended travel school and became a travel agent. She worked primarily with groups, escorting them to many places all over the world. Betty is survived by son, Jay Luedecke and wife, Gina, of Tallahassee, Florida; daughter, Sherri Putt of Katy; 4 grandchildren, Tara Schneider of Sealy and Kristal Schneider of Sealy, Josh Putt of Katy; and step-granddaughter, Rachel Aman of Tallahassee; four great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and 14 nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Luedecke; her parents; two brothers, W.B. (Candy) and Otis Frank; 3 sisters, Hazel Kujawa, Nettie Sillavan, and Etta Mae Ottmer; and nephews. Visitation is 5 pm until 7 pm Friday, May 29, 2015, and funeral service at 1:30 pm Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy. Interment is in Sealy Cemetery.
