Linda Ann Smith Symm, 61, of Wallis, Texas, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011, in Houston, Texas. Linda was born in Sealy, Texas to John Talbert Smith and Florence (Engelking) Smith on September 20, 1949. Linda was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sealy, Texas where she was the secretary for last seven years. Linda enjoyed working in many church ministries throughout her life. She had a heart and passion for youth ministry and restorative justice ministries for adults and youth, especially work with Chrysalis and Epiphany Ministries. She was as active member of the church choir and a dedicated member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was part of the leadership team for the Ladies Auxiliary of FUMC Sealy. Linda loved being a part of Vacation Bible School each summer.
Linda is survived by her husband, John Symm of Wallis, Texas; step-sons, John Symm and his wife, Cheryl, of Garland, Texas, and Robert Symm and his wife, Brenda, of Giddings, Texas; brother, Brian Smith and wife, Deborah, of Wallis; three step-granddaughters; and two step-grandsons; a niece, Crystal Smith; and nephews, Paul Smith and Colton Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Knesek Bros Fourth Street Chapel, 768 Fourth St., Sealy, TX. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, 200 Atchison, in Sealy, with Rev. Lani Rousseau, officiating. Interment will be in Sealy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Diestal, David Diestal, Paul Smith, Colton Smith, John Gonzales, Robert Symm, Justin Foster, and Henry Jost. |
