Jewell Marie Herrington, age 91 of Katy, Texas passed away on December 8, 2012 in Katy, Texas. Jewell was born on August 14, 1921 in Chamberino, New Mexico to Howard and Grace Dubose.
She later moved to San Antonio where she met and married Bernard. They lived in San Antonio then moved to Baytown where they raised Benny, Mike, and Fred. She retired from Goose Creek Independent School District in Baytown as Manager of the Cafeterias. She was an Honorary Life Member of the Texas Congress of Parent and Teachers. After retirement, they moved to Lorraine, Texas and then to Sealy where Bernard and Jewell enjoyed playing dominoes, cards, camping and travelling. They had horses and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Jewell was a resident of the Sunrise at Cinco Ranch where she enjoyed listening to music, attending exercise classes, and socialized with close friends. She is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws, Benny and Rosemary Herrington of Katy, Texas, Mike and Lavon Herrington of Snyder, Texas, Fred and Carolyn Herrington of Mont Belvieu, Texas; and grandchildren, Robin Gordon, Joey Herrington, Justin Herrington, Bonnie Graham, Randi Kay Porter, and Debra Dickson; great-grandchildren, Shannon Gordon, Christopher Gordon, Parker Herrington, Mayce Herrington, Chase Graham, Colton Graham, Garron Porter, Christopher Porter, Kaiyah Porter, Brock Dickson, and Brody Dickson; two sisters, Lillian Bostick of Orange, California and Mary Vail of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, William (Bob) Koch of Lake Jackson, Texas and Lewis (Sonny) Koch of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Herrington; her parents, Howard and Grace Dubose; a sister, Mini Belle Dubose; and a grandson, Steve Herrington. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Knesek Bros. Fourth Street Chapel, 768 Fourth St., Sealy, TX 77474. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Jerry Edmonson officiating, followed by burial at Sealy Cemetery. |
