Myrtle Lummus Giddens passed away on December 15, 2015 at Colonial Bell Nursing home in Bellville, Texas at the age of 91 years.
Myrtle was the daughter of Joseph and Myrtle Lummus, Sr.. She grew up in Katy, Texas. On March 15, 1961, Myrtle married William Archie Giddens, Jr. ( who we know as Uncle Bill), in Houston, Texas. They were a very loving and likeable couple. After Uncle Bill passed away, Myrtle moved to Sealy, Texas to be close to her sisters and other family. Myrtle had no children of her own, but considered her nieces and nephews her children. She was the organizer of family gatherings and an avid hostess. She loved to cook and was good at it. Myrtle was also a fifty year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She collected many antique dishes and loved Lennox. Her Bible studies and strong faith touched many of her friends and family. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Joe Lummus and Bobby Lummus; and two sisters, Gloria Magill and Dorothy Ford; also, her nephews, Aaron Magill and Andy Kiesewetter; brothers-in-law, Aaron Magill, Oscar Ford, Harold (Kuch) Kuchara, and Ervin Kiesewetter; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Lummus. Myrtle is survived by sisters, Zoe Ann Kiesewetter, Jo Nell Cooper, and Louise Kuchara, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 18, 2015, at Sealy Cemetery in Sealy, Texas (Go West on Main St. to the 800 block), with pastor Amy Haralson presiding. Memorials may be made to Bellville UMC or a charity of your choice. Knesek Funeral Chapels, Bellville, in charge of services. |
