Edna Blome Finke concluded her long life here on earth on November 24, 2015 at the age of a very young 98.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Park; her son, Jeryl Finke and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Shari Cleveland, Brenda Elliott, Scott Finke, and Robin Jones and husband, Blake; great-grandchildren, Paul Cleveland and wife, Jennifer, Mary Beth Krampitz and husband, Mark, Sarah and Emma Elliott; great-great-grandchildren, Jones, Annabelle, Cullen, and Archer Krampitz; and sister, Lora Quebe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Jones G. Finke, her parents, and ten of her eleven brothers and sisters. She was born on the 4th of July, 1917 to parents William and Bertha Meyer Blome in the Sandy Hill community near Brenham, Texas. This fact gave her the right to boast that they always held parades ever year on her birthday. She resided in Houston for twelve years in her earlier adult life and then became a fifty year plus resident of Sealy, Texas where she assisted her husband in the growth of their successful trucking and highway construction businesses. Her strong Christian belief, positive spirit and extremely dedicated work ethic allowed her to lead a very rewarding and healthy life throughout her long tenure. Even at age 98, she was very difficult to try to keep up with as she and her walker headed off down the hall to bingo, arts and crafts, or numerous other activities she enjoyed. Her family will sincerely miss, but never forget, the banana pudding, homemade cookies and pear pies she was famous for. Funeral service will be at Knesek Bros. Funeral Home, 1140 Meyer Street (SH36), in Sealy, Texas at 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 28th, followed by interment at the Sealy Cemetery.
