James Patrick Cuthbertson "Pepa", 83, of Sealy, TX passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013. Jim was born June 20, 1929 in Corsicana, TX to Chester and Veda Cuthbertson. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virgina Nowlin. Mr. Cuthbertson is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Suzanne; daughters, Denise Cuthbertson, Jeanine Hart & husband Skip, Cecile Cassidy; grandchildren, Lauren Bird & husband Wayne Scheerer, Brett Bird & wife Kate, Sonia Arreaga; great granddaughters, Allyson, Bailey & Taylor. He is also survived by his loyal family friend Donna Avolio.
Jim grew up living all over the state of Texas; he attended and was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, class of 1950. After his time in the Corp of Texas A&M he entered the United States Army and served his country in the Korean conflict. Once back from overseas, he married the love of his life Suzanne McEntee and started his family. He worked as a chemical engineer for Shell Oil for 35 years before retiring to spend time with his family. Jim, Suzanne, and their daughter Jeanine founded the Arbor School for children with special needs in 1988 in Houston. Hundreds of children and their families benefited from Jim’s loving generosity, hard work and dedication. The Cuthbertson family will be present to receive friends Monday, March 11, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Drive @ Kirkwood, Houston, TX 77079. The Funeral Mass will commence Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Drive, Houston, TX 77080. Interment services will follow at 12:30 PM at Sealy Cemetery, 768 4th Street, Sealy, TX 77474. |
