Obituary
2022
Beloved Samuel "Sam" Lee Braun, 68, passed away early morning on Friday, February 25, 2022, in Houston Texas after a 17 year long battle with cancer. A Texas man through and through, he was born on June 22, 1953 to Henry and Rosalie Braun in Victoria Texas, growing up in Winnie, before later moving to Baytown.
He first worked at U.S. Steel where he met his future wife, Sandra Lynn Harbour. They married in August 1987 and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Alexa and Leslie. Sam later went on to work at Exxon Mobil where he gained many lifelong friends and retired after 22 years. Sam's passions included cooking, hunting, fishing, and drinking. He ultimately found out just one drink was too many and a thousand was never enough, which led him to his journey in recovery. Celebrating 19 years in recovery and changing countless lives with his newfound yet ongoing work in AA club and AA for prisoners. He was a proud friend of Bill. Anyone who knew Sam knew his absolute favorite thing was time spent at the Braun Ranch where he was his truest self. He loved to have a good time with those he loved out in nature; if you knew Sam, you were welcome at the ranch. He didn't always come home with a deer but he did always come home with a story. He was a sensitive, kind, fun loving man, making those lucky enough to be near him laugh and he loved watching others around him have a great time. It will be difficult to forget someone who gave us so much to remember. Sam is survived by his wife, Sandra Braun; daughters, Alexa Lechler and husband, Derek, Leslie Morales and husband, Timothy; three grandkids, Jagger, Jett, and Julia Lechler; and brother, Joe Braun. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and stepson, Jason Dickson. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change and the courage to change the things I can." In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Sam's name to the Wheelhouse in Deer Park, TX a sober living facility he cared deeply for. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Knesek Family Funeral Chapel, 768 4th Street, Sealy, Texas 77474. Burial will be in Sealy Cemetery. |
