Shirley (Lida Mae) Brast passed away at home in Sealy on August 20, 2016. Shirley was born to Virgil & Gladys Sorters on March 29, 1940 in Freeport, Texas. On June 20, 1959, she was united in marriage to Victor Brast. Shirley enjoyed baking and canning and belonged to The Shepherd's Way Church in Sealy.
Shirley's family would like to extend special thanks to Rosa Ray, her niece, who provided her with special care during the last few weeks of her illness, and also to Sharon, Wendy, and Samantha of Compassionate Care Hospice of Bryan. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Sorters; mother, Gladys Hodge; brothers, Roy Sorters, Vernon Sorters, and Buster Sorters; sisters, Ruby Ray and Ester Miltonburger. She is survived by her husband, Victor Brast; son, Victor Jr. and wife, Wanda; grandchildren, Danny and Cortney Brast, and Josh Brast; great-granddaughter, Raelynn Brast; and sisters, Mary Bell, Ricki Massey, and Betty Lou Woods. A visitation was held on August 23, 2016 from 5-7 PM at Knesek Fourth Street Chapel and a funeral service was held at The Shepherd's Way Church on August 24, 2016. Pallbearers were Butch Sorters, Larry Bones, Steve Galloway, Ed Marcinkiewicz, John Marcinkiewicz, and Frank Marcinkiewicz. |
