Deana Brast was born on January 27, 1946 to Eliza and Gustav Brast. The youngest of 13 children, she grew up in the Rexville community and attended Sealy schools. She later moved to Columbus and then to Bellville, TX.
Deana loved cats. She had several cats growing up and could often be found taking care of strays at the nursing home in Columbus. Deana also loved all things bright and colorful. She would color with bright colors and enjoyed looking through fashion magazines. One of her favorite things to do was to put on chunky jewelry and show it off to the staff at the nursing home. Deana passed away on May 4, 2016 in Bellville, TX at the age of 70. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Eliza Brast (Sealy); two sisters, Alice Marcinkiewicz (Bellville) and Emily Foshee (Jacksonville); and seven brothers, Marcus (Wallis), Manual, Rinehart, Lee, Edward, William, and David Brast (all of Sealy). Deana is survived by brothers, Victor and Shirley Brast (Sealy), Weldon Brast (Sealy), and Gene and Ann Brast (Nacogdoches), as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 6, with Pastor Frank Lucas officiating. Pallbearers were Ed Marcinkiewicz, John Marcinkiewicz, Frank Marcinkiewicz, Victor Brast Jr., Marcus Reichardt, and Nicholas Reichardt. Elizabeth Reichardt provided special readings for the service. The family would like to thank the staff at Briarwood Manor in Bellville as well as Compassionate Care Hospice for taking such good care of this special lady. |
