Jeanette Earline Bischoff Kollatschny, 84, was born November 13, 1938 to parents Erwin Bischoff and Lena (Wittenburg) Bischoff in Sealy, TX. She was baptized on April 2, 1939, and confirmed in 1951 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cat Spring. Upon graduation from Sealy High School, she moved to Houston where she worked for Singer Corporation and RCA in payables.
On April 21, 1965, she married Gilbert Kollatschny. They bought a home in Houston and lived there for eight years before moving back to Cat Spring in 1973. Jeanette and Gilbert enjoyed many of the same pleasures, such as hunting, fishing, and traveling, especially cruises and trying their luck at the tables and machines in Louisiana and Las Vegas. She made several trips to Europe and became acquainted with many of the Kollatschny's still living in Germany. She also loved gardening, plants, and flowers. In 1982, she began a career in real estate before opening her own firm, Oak Prairie Realty, in Cat Spring in 1986. She and Gilbert took great pride in their hunting property in the Hill Country on the Llano River where they would spend time throughout the year and especially during deer season. Jeanette served on the St. John Lutheran Church Congregation Council, Cat Spring, and held numerous positions before transferring to St. John's in Bellville. Jeanette also volunteered for the Sealy Food Bank and Bellville Food Bank. While hunting and the outdoors were great pleasures in her life, her pride and joy were her children, Tim and Teresa, and later her grandchildren, Sasha and Nicko Opela. Jeanette died on June 14, 2023 in Houston after a short battle with cancer.
