Dennis A. Korenek, son of Ladgie and Lillie Korenek. Dennis A. Korenek married Dorothy M. Pavliska on October 6,1957 and the couple were the parents of three sons.

Dennis lived in Wallis, Texas where he graduated from Wallis High School. He began his career working for Koy Concrete and then moving on to be a machinist for WKM and Cameron Iron Works.

Mr. Korenek was a member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church, KJT, SPJST, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion in Wallis. He also served his country in the Korean War and was an Honorary member of the Wallis Fire Department.

Dennis' greatest civic passion was the American Legion where he held the position of Finance Officer for 28 years. Dennis was extremely proud of the Wallis Post. He met many friends through the Legion at conventions and conferences that always put a smile on his face.

Dennis loved for the family to get together for bar-be-ques in the back yard, working in the yard and tending to his garden. He also raised chickens and sold eggs to many folks that turned into friendships that lasted for years. He liked going to Coushatta to try his luck on the slots, working at the KC hall selling tickets at the fish fry's and tending the bar at the Legion hall for any event taking place there, especially bingo every Thursday night.

Funeral services were held for Dennis A. Korenek, 80, Wednesday March 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis with the Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen celebrating the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal.

Visitation was Tuesday March 9, 2010 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Vigil Wake service at 7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Korenek II, Justin Korenek, Jonathon Korenek, Kenneth E. Korenek, Gary Davis and Mike Jurasek.

Honorary Pallbearers were Andrew Dirba, Sawyer Stanley and Reid Williams.

Funeral services were held under the direction of Knesek and Sons Funeral Home in Wallis.
