Lawrence Sopchak, age 89 of San Felipe, Texas, passed away on July 24, 2020. He was born April 9, 1931 in Wallis, Texas to John and Sarah Sopchak.
After being drafted into the US Army at age 21, Lawrence served this country during the Korean War. After returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Bonnie Stone. They lived in Houston until Lawrence retired from his welding career and moved to San Felipe. Although he enjoyed farming, his favorite pastime was refurbishing antique Farmall tractors. Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers (Jim Sopchak, Martin Sopchak, Frank Sopchak and Raymond Sopchak). He is survived by his wife of 64 years, his four children, son Larry Sopchak (wife Robin), son Randy Sopchak (wife Julie), daughter Kathy Bostick (husband Desmond), and daughter Gina Walla (husband Shawn) as well as 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Buechmann (husband Pat) of San Felipe. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date due to the Covid 19 conditions. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lawrence Sopchak’s name to First Wallis Baptist Church, 6911 Westgate, PO 640, Wallis TX 77485. |
