Albert (Rabbit) Zajicek, age 84 of Wallis, passed away on October 24, 2016. Born in Fayetteville, TX to Fred & Jennie (Janis) Zajicek on January 22, 1932. He married Jeanette Sliva September 20, 1959 and made their home in Wallis.
Albert served in the Korean War as a Corporal for the Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954. He started his career with Duval Sulphur in Orchard, TX and ended up retiring from 3P Performance Plastics Products in 1992. He enjoyed fishing in the Brazos River and in Matagorda where he did a lot of shrimping. He also loved to deer hunt and any other wild game. In his earlier years he was a bowler. He also enjoyed camping and water skiing with family & friends. Mini trips with nieces & nephews to Six Flags, Hemisphere, Astro World and various other places. He loved his baseball, especially those Astros and the Texans football team. After retiring he took on repairing all types of small engines, such as lawn mowers, weed eaters and chainsaws. Whenever he started a new project he would say (This is going to be a “big operation”). He looked forward to his morning coffee at D&M Texaco where he visited with friends. He was always willing to help anyone that needed help. Albert was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, Wallis Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 200, KJT, KJZT. He also was a prior member of the US Bowling Association and the Texas Bowling Association. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanette; brother, Raymond Zajicek & wife, Margaret of Columbus, TX; and his boys, Cocoa & Toby. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred & Jennie Zajicek; sisters, Leona Janes and Edna Sodolak; brothers, Victor and Hugo Zajicek. Pallbearers will be Edmund Jurek, Leslie Jez, Larry Zajicek, James Nicholson, David Dolejsi and Johnny Glueck. Honorary Pallbearers: all his other nephews. Memorial contributions in memory of Albert may be made to the American Legion Post 200 in Wallis, PO Box 730, Wallis, TX 77485. A visitation with the family will be held at Guardian Angel Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 5pm-7pm. Rosary to begin at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Guardian Angel Catholic Church on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 10:00 am, Fr. Thuy Nguyen, officiating. Interment will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery. |
