Clarence Alvin Dittert was born on April 6, 1932 to Alvin John and Goldie (Garling) Dittert in Sealy, TX. Clarence passed away on September 24th, 2020 at the age of 88. He was baptized on May 17th, 1940 by Pastor Wolf and was confirmed by Pastor Harold Warnelke on May 2,1948 at St. John Lutheran Church Cat Spring.
He attended Cat Spring school and graduated from Sealy High School in 1951. During his school years, he played football and baseball. At times, he drove the school jeep and picked up schoolmates, either to attend school or practice. On December 18th, 1955, Clarence married Delores Reibenstein at St. John Lutheran Church Bellville, TX. They were blessed with 5 children, Melinda Brod (Leonard), Marilyn Nelson (Travis), Marsha Tipp (Randall), Malcolm Dittert (Mary), Myron Dittert (Ilse). He served in the Army from March 1953 to March 1955 in Yakima, Washington. He worked for the Sante Fe Railroad for 30 years. He worked for Austin County Farmers Mutual for 26 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church for all his life and served on the council for many years. He was a member of Cat Spring Agricultural Society since 1948 and held an office for 31 years. Member of the American Legion and Austin County Livestock Association, Texas Sportsman Association, Austin County Farm Bureau, Hermann Sons Lodge #44, and Thrivent. He was a charter member of the Cat Spring Fire Department. Clarence loved working with his cattle and cutting hay with his Ford 7710 tractor. At the hay patch, he enjoyed an afternoon lunch with hot coffee and coffee cake. His normal work clothes were always blue jean overalls and his railroad hard hat. Clarence spent many years gardening and farming, raising cotton, watermelon, and garden vegetables. As an involved member of the butcher club, he received meat once a week on Fridays. He enjoyed dancing, he and Delores went to many Saturday night polka and waltz dances. Clarence loved playing cards such as skat, dominoes such as straight and 42. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and he always watched the Astros, the Texans, and many more. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Goldie Dittert; sister, Ila Mae, and brother-in-law, Everett Tomlinson; brother-in-law, Leslie, and sister-in-law, Bernice Reibenstein; brother-in-law Leroy Hillboldt, and sister-in-law, Mildred; brother-in-law, Hilton, and sister-in-law, Esther Luedecke; daughter-in-law, Lisa Dittert. He is survived by his wife, Delores Dittert, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Grandchildren include Jason Brod (Debra), Jeramy Brod (Sarah), Julie Brod, Bradley Nelson (Regina), Brent Nelson (Melissa), Britni Kotrla (Brad), Jacob Tipp (Amy), Janie Brittain (Nathan), Milton Dittert, Mitch Dittert, Molly Dittert, Cameron Dittert. His great-grandchildren are Addy and Alana Brod, Bexley and Rinley Nelson, Kimber and Jade Nelson, Bristol and Brie Kotrla, Kaston, and Kinley Tipp, and Ryker Brittain. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and respected person by all. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy in life. Pallbearers are Jason Brod, Bradley Nelson, Jeramy Brod, Brent Nelson, Jacob Tipp, Milton Dittert, Mitch Dittert, Cameron Dittert, Brad Kotrla, and Nathan Brittain.
