Tomlinson, Joyce Eileen Eber
Obituary
2014
Joyce Eileen Tomlinson, 84, passed peacefully in her sleep at Colonial Belle Nursing Home in Sealy the night of Thanksgiving, November 28th, 2014. She was born on Valentines' Day, February 14th, 1930, in Austin, Texas to Nettie Belle and Leslie Eber, but remained a resident of Sealy from childhood on. She went to Sealy schools and was the Tiger Mascot when she was elementary age, graduating in 1947.
Joyce married local rancher Raymond Real Tomlinson, Sr. Together they worked cattle, sold farm implements and raw land, owned a dance hall, and more recently went into Angora goats, something most ranchers said could not be done this close to the coast. Both Raymond and Joyce took the challenge and proved fine hairs like Angora could be both raised and showed successfully in Austin County. They even went on to win numerous awards at shows across the state. Traveling to shows was Joyce's favorite thing to do. They remained married for 54 years until Raymond's death in 2003. She took up driving again and spent many days on the road with her little poodle, Jock, socializing with local shop owners and ranchers. She became a resident of Colonial Belle Nursing Home several years ago and made many friends there, enjoying live music, bingo, and other parties. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nettie Belle (Bartay) Eber and Leslie August Eber, and her husband, Raymond Tomlinson. She is survived by a son; and one daughter, Lana Joyce (Tomlinson) Cummings, son-in-law, Charles Melton Cummings, both of San Marcos; one granddaughter, Vikki (Cummings) Rosenkranz, and one grandson-in-law, Robert Fred Rosenkranz, both of Monaville. Joyce is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews of which many live in the Sealy area. The family would like to thank the staff of Colonial Belle for their years of service and care for Mrs. Tomlinson.
