2021
Richard William Henning, Jr. was born to parents Richard and Emily Henning Sr. in Jamaica, New York in 1942. He died November 13, 2021 in Houston, TX.
Richard's siblings are Robert and Judy. Richard's parents moved to California where he met his wife, a fellow co-worker, while working at Shell Oil, where he worked for over 45 years. In 1969, Richard married Linda Mae Cheek to whom he has now celebrated over 52 years of marriage. Their children are Lynette Lee, Richard Henning, Michelle Swayze, and Nickie Gonzalez. Richard's family grew through his children leaving 9 grandchildren, Madison Lee, Matthew Lee, Mackenzie Lee, Aydan Swayze, Savannah Henning, Avery Henning, Alyssa Henning, Hunter Gonzalez, and Cameron Gonzalez. In California, Richard owned a farm where his family experienced the farm life. Richard built an incredible barn on the farm which still stands strong to this day. This farm holds special memories for the family as they raised cows, sheep, and goats, along with a sundry of other farm animals. The family showed sheep through 4-H and FFA and had deep roots into the school system and community, even serving on the Valley Home School Board. In 1987, Shell moved Richard and his family to Sealy, TX for a new job at the resins pilot plant in Houston. The three younger children attended the Sealy schools, all graduating from Sealy High School. Richard loved the Sealy Tiger football games and since his cancer in 2012, still attended the football games watching from his truck at the goal post lines with Linda. Dad was an avid bowler through the years. In his younger years in California, he was in a professional bowling league with his wife, Linda, with dozens of trophies as proof of their success. Richard even received a perfect score 300 ring. When they moved to Sealy, they were well known to be at the Sealy Bowling League as well as the Katy Bowling League where Richard and Linda met some of their lifelong friends. Richard Henning is a kind, loyal, funny, giving, hardworking man who has left a lasting impression on everyone who met him. He will be dearly missed by many. While we know Richard's final resting place is in Heaven, he is being buried at the Sealy Cemetery in Sealy, TX, on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 2 pm.
