JOSEPH DONALD "Don" PLEASANT, 88, of Sealy, Texas, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 12, 2021, in Katy, Texas.
Don was born November 10, 1932, in Houston, Texas, to the late Clyde and Mary (Reiss) Pleasant. He grew up and attended schools in the Houston area. In 1953, he enlisted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. After returning home, he went to work for Roadway for many years in sales in the trucking business and then for Yellow Freight. In 1968, he met the love of his life, Jackie Robinson and they married on February 14, 1969. After moving around in the trucking industry, Don and Jackie made their final home in Sealy, Texas. Don was an active member of The Shepherd's Way Church for many years. Don was a "people person" and enjoyed serving his church as a greeter on Sunday mornings and serving his community as a door greeter at Wal-Mart for 15 years. He loved to hunt, to fish, and spend time with his family. Don is survived by his son: Donald Pleasant and his wife, Ann, of Cat Spring; daughter: Raquel Stubblefield and her significant other, Robert McDade, Jr., of Waller; step-son: Monte Mickle and his wife, Linda, of Mapleton, Utah; step-daughter: Sheila Schiller and her husband, Bill, of Jersey Village, step-son: Byron Mickle and his wife, Valeri, of Elk Ridge, Utah; grandchildren: Zachary Pleasant and his girlfriend, Brette Wicke, Reiss Pleasant, Savannah Peasant, Blake Pleasant, Britni Loy, and her husband, Michael, Curtis Fisher Jr., Emily Simmons and her husband, Sam, Devon Mickle and his wife, Jesse, Clinton Mickle and his wife, Elizabeth, Laura Keeler and her husband, Windsor, Connor Mickle and his wife, Capri, Joseph Schiller and his wife, Cinthy, Christopher Schiller and his wife, Beth, Austin Mickle, Ryan Mickle and his wife, Morgan, CaSaundra Kimball and her husband, Andrew, Alex Westover and her husband, Clinton, Jordan Christensen and his fiancé', Tatiana, Ty Christensen and his wife, Madeline, Grant Mickle and his wife, Elise, and Cameron Mickle; great grandchildren: Hudson Pleasant, Hayden Loy, Afton, Rosalie, and Ezra Simmons, Ainsley, Sullivan, Clyde, and Holland Mickle, Coulson, Aaron, James, and Clara Mickle, Spencer, Brooklyn and Ethan Keeler, Tsubasa, and Ethan Schiller, Joanquin Veintimilla, Emma, Olivia, Zachary, and Mason Schiller, Caroline and Grace Mickle, Bruce, Kaitlin and Savannah Kimball, Hazel, Mason, and Ava Rose Westover, Mabel and Otto Christensen; brother: Neal Pleasant and his wife, Leona; and many other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sister and brother-in-law: Rosemary and Al Stegent, his brother and sister-in-law: Philip and Sondra Pleasant. Pallbearers are Zachary Pleasant, Blake Pleasant, Curtis Fisher, Jr., Joseph Schiller, Christopher Schiller, Conner Mickle, Devon Mickle, and Clint Mickle.
