Tracy Anne Prokop Winkelmann, age 46, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on March 27, 2013 after a valiant 14 year battle with cancer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 21 years, Michael Winkelmann, and two beloved sons, Grant and Garrett, her parents Annette and Richard Prokop, brother Terry Prokop (wife Tamara, and children Jack and Larsen) of Chicago, sister Connie McKune (husband Jeff, and Madeline and Melanie) of Seattle, Wash., brother Jeff (wife Beth, and children Dillon, Ross and Graham) of Llano, mother-in-law Barbara Fortner (husband Ken) of Austin, brother-in-law Tim Winkelmann (wife Michelle, and children Max and Faith) of Wichita Falls, and many aunts, uncles, family and friends. Tracy was born June 26, 1966 in Houston. She was a graduate of Bellville High School and earned an education degree from Texas State University and went on to teach History at Holub Middle School in Alief. She was an active member of Second Baptist Church West Campus, and truly had a passion for sharing and living her faith. She housed summer interns, attended beach retreat, as a camp counselor, and worked at Vacation Bible School. Tracy was also a children’s leader for Community Bible Study. Tracy enjoyed volunteering at her boys’ schools, gardening, cooking, shopping (especially for purses), traveling to many places (especially Italy), entertaining, spending time with friends and keeping her family on task. Tracy exemplified a Proverbs 31 woman by being a wise woman of noble character who loved unconditionally. You could always count on her to give her honest opinion! She was a pillar of strength, courage and wisdom throughout her life and all were blessed to know her. She lived each day with grace and dignity, and demonstrated how a life lived for the Lord should be completed. Her faith was truly unwavering and while we all miss her beyond words, we have the blessed assurance that Tracy is with the Lord! Funeral Service in celebration of Tracy’s life was held Saturday, March 30, 2013 and laid to rest at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Donations may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center at the following website https://www.mdanderson.org/gifts/view-content?DFID=S_000821. We would prefer the donations go to Volunteer Services as they provide such good care to patients in the hospital. Posted by Joy Neely |
