Funeral services for Mrs. Erna Schaffner Newman, 73, of Bellville will be held today. Thursday, June 5th, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Pete E. Etlinger Funeral Home in Bellville with Rev. William Rotter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews Rusty Cochran, Andy R. Cochran, Kyle Crowe, David Reznicek, Eddie Deats and J. B. Bellflower. Mrs. Newman died at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 1986 at Sweetbriar Nursing Home. She had been in failing health for the past four months. She was born on March 25, 1913 in Kenney, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Schaffner. She was raised near Kenney, and attended Travis Public School near there. A housewife, she was a member of the Methodist faith. Survivors include sisters, Mrs. Lillie Sander of Bellville, Mrs. Alma Crowe of Houston, Miss Elfrieda Schaffner of Bellville and Mrs. Lenora Fulmer of Highlands; brother, Max Schaffner of Industry; four nieces and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Eddie F. Newman on Oct. 8, 1970; two sisters and two brothers. Posted by Joy Neely |
