Charles Wade Muncy, 87, of Bellville passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, in Brenham. Charles was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Bluefield, West Virginia, to parents John H. and Euna Mary Caldwell Muncy. He grew up and attended school in Princeton West Virginia graduating from Princeton High School in 1945. He then attended Notre Dame University near South Bend, Indiana. In 1949, Charles enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country during the Vietnam War where he earned a Bronze Star, a United States decoration awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for acts of heroism, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone. He retired in 1981 having attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. Charles lived in numerous places during his military career including Texas, Indiana, Germany, Italy, Korea and Vietnam. He married Myrle Helmer on Feb. 15, 1971, in Copperas Cove. After his military service, Charles was employed as a Civil Engineer. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, baking bread and reading. Charles has made his home in Bellville since 1989. An avid sports fan, he loved watching the Houston Astros and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a Presbyterian by faith and a member of the Bellville American Legion Post #115. Charles is survived by his daughter Patti Helm and her husband, Mark, of Conroe; granddaughter Carrie Cash and her husband, Jared, of Washington, Texas; step grandchilfren Jennifer Miles and her husband, Chad, and Matthew Helm, all of San Antonio; and great-great grandchildren Rhett Cash and Makynzie Miles. He is also survived by his brothers Rufus Muncy of Bluefield, West Virginia, Fred Muncy of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his sister Norma, also of Viriginia Beach, Virginia and niece Mary Sue; and many other dear friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Larry Muncy, his wife, Myrle Muncy and sister-in-law, Jean Muncy.
