Mariah was the daughter of Barnabas and Sarah McHenry. She married Rev. John Wesley Kenney. They lost a daughter to cholera at the same time her mother and father died with cholera. They went to Texas, accompanied by her sister, Lydia Anne McHenry. They traveled in a wagon train and arrived at the chosen destination in south Texas on Christmas Eve,1833.
