2020
Calvin Lee Richard, 83, of Cat Spring and Bellville passed away at the Briarwood Manor Nursing home in Bellville Dec. 7, 2020. He was in failing health for the past several months.
Calvin was born to Leopold and Fannie Sefcek Richard on September 9, 1937 in Kenney, TX. He spent much of his life in the Cat Spring area and attended school in Cat Spring through the sixth grade. He then attended school in Bellville. After school he went to work at the Diestel Exxon Service station in Sealy and continued there until being drafted into the US Army in 1960. During his army stay he was station in Heilbronn, Germany during the cold war. Calvin was a demolition expert. After his honorable discharge from the US Army, he went to work for Mac McGowan who managed government cotton and grain storage warehouses in Tomball, Singleton and Houston. From there he went to work for the G E Huebner Concrete Company in 1968 and worked there for more than 50 years. He was a dedicated, skilled and dependable worker wherever he was employed. Calvin was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing as well as his many years of deer hunting in the brush country of South Texas. For years he enjoyed cooking pinto beans for the many celebrations in the area. Chances are there were no places he would rather be than with his friends at the Crossroad in Cat Spring, trying his luck at another scratch-off, at work, and eating out on Sundays with special friends. Calvin never married and was predeceased by his parents and brother Milton and sister-in-law Waldine Richard. He leaves behind a whole host of friends … if you knew Calvin you liked him. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Charity of one's choice Graveside ServiceSaturday, December 12, 2020 9:00 AM National Cemetery Cemetery Road Nelsonville, Texas |
