Funeral services for Joe Jurek, Jr., 88, of Wallis, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, from the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, with the Rev. Al Wash celebrating the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal. Interment was in the Krasna Cemetery in Wallis. Serving as pallbearers were Floyd Marsalia, Johnny Charanza, Edward Joseph Jurek, Michael Jurek, Thomas Jurek, and Kenneth Jurek. He was born Jan. 31, 1910 in Krasna to parents, Joe and Annie (Cerny) Jurek, and he passed away on Oct. 1, 1998 in Eagle Lake. He was raised in Krasna and attended Guardian Angel Catholic School in Wallis. He was a long-time member of KJT Society #16 of Wallis, a lifelong member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church of Wallis. He was a farmer by occupation and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Annie Jurek; his wife, Annie (Jochec) Jurek; a sister, Rosie Jurek; and grandson; Charlie Mikulencak, Jr. He is survived by five children: daughters, Mary Buggins of Nev., Frances Mikulencak and her husband, Charlie, of Richmond; sons, Willie Jurek and his wife, Hazel, of Rosenberg, Frank and his wife, Elizabeth, of East Bernard, Johnnie and his wife, Betty, of Wallis; ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services were under the direction of the Knesek and Sons Funeral Home, 6244 Guyler in Wallis. (409) 478-6311. |
