Louis Edwin Palla, 78, of Bellville, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, in Houston. He was born on Aug. 4, 1935, in Granger, the son of Charlie and Mary Skrhak Palla. Louis grew up in Granger and attended Granger Catholic School. In 1959, he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1964. Louis moved to Houston and was united in marriage to Lois Krueger on Aug. 1, 1964, in Frydek, Texas. In 1969, they moved to Bellville where Louis was a cattleman on his ranch in Burleigh. He was a member of the Coshatte Agriculture Society and was active in Austin County 4-H, Bellville Little League, and the Austin County Fair. Louis enjoyed riding his mule, his fruit trees and taking care of his dog. Louis is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Lois Palla of Bellville; children Lonnie Palla, Lyle Palla, and Leisha Chandler and her husband, Bruce, all of Bellville; grandchildren Misty Chandler and her friend, Chris Herben, and Marlee Chandler, also of Bellville. He is also survived by his brothers Henry Palla and his wife, Betty, of Houston, and Albert Palla and his wife, Rose, also of Houston; brother-in-law John Valis of Taylor; and sister-in-law Joyce Palla of Granger. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Palla, sisters, Georgia Vitek, Mildred Valis, Mary Palla and Alice Rumley and brother, Charlie Palla. Visitation, 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014, Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel Bellville Funeral service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 2014, Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, Brother Michael Groseclose, officiating.
