James Edward "Big Jim" Hintzel, 80, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016, at his home. He was born September 27, 1936 in Bellville, Texas, the son of James Edward and Willie Mae (Kaliszewsky) Hintzel. Jim grew up and attended schools in the Bellville area, graduating from Bellville High School in 1956. After high school, he joined the United States Army Reserves and was Honorably Discharged in 1964.
Jim was united in marriage to Mary Diserens on November 18, 1961 in Houston, Texas. He was employed with Cameron Iron Works for 33 years, retiring in 1998. Jim enjoyed model railroading. He spent his past time sitting outside on his stool under his workshop, drinking a cold beverage from his Tupperware cup. Jim was active in the Austin County Fair Association. Jim is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Mary Hintzel of Bellville; sons, Gary Hintzel, Larry Hintzel and his wife, Stephanie, and Mike Hintzel and his wife, Mae, all of Bellville; five grandsons; brothers, Melvin Hintzel and his wife, Elinor, of Bellville, and Marvin Hintzel of Bellville. He is also survived by his brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, Hot Shot Diserens and his wife, Helen, and Preacher Diserens and his wife, Cynthia, all of North Zulch; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister-in-law, Barbara Hintzel. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 30, 2016, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Schmidt Funeral Home, 12029 Hwy. 36 South, Bellville, Texas 77418. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. |
