Funeral services for Mr. Richard Kloss, 83, of Bellville were held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 19 from St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville with Pastor Willie Rotter and Pastor Ann Ward officiating.
Interment was in the Millheim Cemetery. Pallbearers were Douglas Kloss, Shannon Johnson, Dennis Landua, Paul Machemehl, Rev. Robert Sorensen, Melvin Meyer, Allan Severin and David Kloss. Mr. Kloss died Friday, April 17, 1992 in a Bellivlle nursing facility at the age of 83 years, eight months and 23 days. He was born Aug. 24, 1908 in Millheim, the son of Charles and Dora (Hillboldt) Kloss. He attended school in Millheim. He loved farming and carpentry. On Dec. 26, 1959, he was united in marriage with Adelheid Machemehl Schumann at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. Mr. Kloss was very conservation-minded, and, in 1980, he received the Outstanding Farmer and Rancher Award from the Austin County Soil and Water Conservation District. A member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville, Mr. Kloss was also a member of Millheim Harmonie Hall, the Farm Bureau and a 60-year member of the Sons of Hermann. Survivors include: wife, Adelheid Schumann Kloss of Bellville; son, J. C. Kloss and wife Glenda of Houston; stepson, Herbert Schumann and wife Laura of Bellville; grandchildren, Rick and Debbie Kloss of Houston, Tracy and Dwayne Carlson of Hockley and Jeff Kloss of Houston; stepgrandchildren, Brian, Deanna, Scott and Brenda Schumann, all of Bellville; four great grandchildren; brother, Charlies A. Kloss and wife Thelma of Sealy, and many other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Elfrieda Goebel Kloss, on March 22, 1956. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to the charity of their choice. Services were under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home of Bellville.
