Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Dixie Ruth Sauls Pechacek, peacefully went home to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 14, 2014, at her home in the Buckhorn community outside of Bellville. She was surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren. Dixie was born on July 26, 1939, in Bellville to Robert Erman Sauls and Dorine Kendrick Sauls. She attended school in Brenham and in Cypress-Fairbanks where she graduated in May, 1957. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents Robert E. and Dorine Sauls; her maternal grandparents Claude and Tolula Kendrick; her paternal grandparents Robert Logan and Eugenia Ryan Sauls; her uncles Nolte (Bud) Kendrick, Garvin Kendrick, John Arlie Kendrick and Ronald Sauls; her aunts Lois Campbell and Dixie Hill. She is survived by her husband John R. Pechacek; her children Amy and husband Stephen Deutsch, Andy and wife Nancy Pechacek, and Katy Linnabery; her grandchildren Clint Pechacek, Brianna Deutsch, John and wife Madison Pechacek, Nick Deutsch, Ben Deutsch, Sam Pechacek, Carlin Linnabery, and Haven Linnabery; her aunt Ruth Krumrey together with a host of cousins and dear friends in Hempstead, Bellville, Brenham and throughout the state. Dixie loved children and had a kind and loving heart for everyone. She was a person of deep faith who touched the lives of a countless number of persons through her Christian teaching and witness as well as through her example of enduring the challenges presented by numerous health issues. Dixie always considered the feelings and well being of others above her own needs and desires and had a kind and loving spirit to all. Dixie was a faithful Christian who lived her faith every day. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hempstead. She taught and participated in numerous Bible studies as well as Sunday school and vacation bible school. She was an avid stamper and loved quilting. She enjoyed traveling, but primarily, she enjoyed the beauty, peace and tranquility of her home in the Buckhorn community outside of Bellville. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at the Bellville United Methodist Church with Pastor Katy Ware and Reverend Nancy Creason officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Knoll Cemetery. Dixie’s eight grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
