Doris L. Wittneben was born to Henry and Augusta Henske Loesch in the New Wehdem Community, Brenham on July 20, 1932 and passed away at her home in Bellville on July 7, 2013. Doris was baptized on Sept. 25, 1932 at St. James Lutheran Church, New Wehdem. She was confirmed on April 14, 1946 at St. James Lutheran Church, New Wehdem. Doris Wittneben was educated at the New Wehdem School. She married Harry Wittneben on June 30, 1951, at St. James Lutheran Church, New Wehdem. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bellville, a lifetime member of the Bellville Hospital Auxiliary and an avid reader. Doris worked at Bellville and Brenham Telephone Company as an Operator. She was co-owner with her husband of the Harry’s Superette. She also worked at the Junior High School Cafeteria. Her hobby was doing Genealogy. She did this for a number of years for family and friends. Doris Wittneben is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Annette Wittneben of Bryan; and grandchildren, Isaac and Annika Wittneben of Bryan; nephew and his wife, Wilbert and Barbara Rathke of Fredericksburg; great nephew and his wife, Matthew and Renee Rathke of Oklahoma; great-great nephew and great-great-niece Shelby and Gretchen Rathke of Oklahoma. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Wittneben, who died Nov. 3, 2005, and her parents, Henry and Augusta Loesch and sister and brother-in-law, Verlin and Alvin Rathke and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herbert and Meta Schroeder Wittneben. Pallbearers: Allen Garling, Leeland Rinn, Donald Henske, Bobby Pieper, David Ottmer, Royce Garling, Larry Lischka, Bill Johnson, Gary Morris, Ronnie Robertson and Floyd Merten. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Knesek Brothers Funeral Chapel, 842 E. Main St., Bellville. Funeral Service was at 11 a.m. at Knesek Brothers Funeral Chapel, Bellville with Pastor Jill Vivroux of St. James Lutheran Church officiating.
