Floy “Ruth” Krumrey, 97, passed away February 18, 2017 in Katy, TX.
Ruth was born on May 4, 1919 to Henry Claude Kendrick and Minnie Tolula Nolte. She graduated from Bellville High School in 1937. She married Gardner M. “Mac” Krumrey on March 31, 1938. After the birth of their first son, Doyle in Sept. 1939, they moved to the Freeport area in search of better opportunities. Eventually landing a job with Dow Chemical in spring 1941, Mac and Ruth settled in Lake Jackson, Texas. Her second son, Ronnie, was born during World War II in Feb. 1943. While living in Lake Jackson, Alan, third son, arrived in Oct. 1954. Mac and Ruth were residents of Lake Jackson until 1976 when both retired and moved back to Bellville to enjoy Grandparenthood. Ruth was known for volunteering on local election days as a polling clerk. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and Austin County Civic Chorale. She also made numerous donations of specially designed and hand-made quilts and crocheted afghans of Texas and American flags for various local organizations fund-raisers. Besides being a seamstress, she also enjoyed gardening, music, dominoes and playing piano. She was a Sunday school teacher, a Dow Community Hospital candy-striper and a bank teller at Brazosport Savings and Loan. She was also an avid Astros fan quick to point out her favorite player, Craig Biggio. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Mac; son, Ronnie; parents, H.C. and Tolula Kendrick; brothers, Nolte, Garvin, & John Arlie Kendrick; sister, Dorine Kendrick Sauls. Ruth is survived by her sons, Doyle & wife, Linda, Alan and wife, Diana, and daughter-in-law, Jeanne Krumrey. She has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Don Bosse & staff; Colonial Belle & staff; Grace Care of Katy/Garden Bridge staff and Hospice Care. Funeral services for Ruth will be on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Bellville United Methodist Church, 234 S. Masonic Street, Bellville, starting at 2:00PM with Pastor John Reasons, officiating. Interment follows at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Bellville. Pallbearers are Lane Krumrey, Randy Krumrey, Roger Krumrey, Keith Hill, Tom Reichert and Robert John Holt. Services are under the direction of Knesek Bros Funeral Chapels, Bellville. |
