Vol. 29 No. 51, December 19, 1907, page 6. At ten o'clock on Tuesday of this week, Mr. B. H. Glenn, one of Bellville's oldest residents, died at his home in the eastern part of town, aged 83 years, 4 months, and 17 days. Mr. Glenn has been in failing health for many months and the end was not unlooked for. Just ten months ago his wife, with whom he lived in this community for over half a century, went before him to the grave. With the passing away of this patriarch another ligature between the distant past and the now is snapped and another pair of hands that helped to make way in the wilderness of a new country are at rest for all time. Surviving him are, six sons namely, Messrs. L. J. Glenn of Bellville, M. F. Glenn of New Braunfels, B. H. and C. H. Glenn of Hill County, Hon. C. C. Glenn of Sealy, and J. C. Glenn of Maryville, Missouri. A. daughter, Mrs. J. J. Stopple, and former sheriff, W. B. Glenn preceded him to the grave. He was probably the earliest settler of the Coshatte community and for years operated a gin on the old homestead three miles east of town. The funeral took place on Wednesday, December 18th with interment at the family burial ground. Rev. W. H. Long of the Methodist Church conducted the services. Posted by Joy Neely |
