August 2003 Graveside services for Elda Froelich, 89, of Tomball, Texas, were held Thursday, August 7, 2003 at 6 pm. with Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Entombment was at the Haven of Rest Mausoleum in Sealy. Born December 28, 1913, in New Ulm, Texas, Elda was the daughter of Otto and Emilie Buenger Hahn. She was baptized May 14, 1914 in Frelsberg and confirmed September 7, 1930 by St. John's Lutheran Church in Cat Spring. She was raised in Cat Spring and attended primary school in the Cleveland Community of Austin County. On September 24, 1937, the former Miss Hahn and Mr. Ernest W. Froelich were married with ceremony held in Bellville, Texas. In early 1939, Elda and Ernest moved to the Tomball area, where she worked for and retired from the Tomball Independent School District. Elda Ernstine Emma Hahn Froelich died August 4, 2003 in Houston, Texas. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Esther F. and Carl H. Sims of Tomball, Ernestine Geeta and Jim Evans of Houston, three grandchildren Miss Renee Bhatt of Huntsville, Mrs. Charlotte Ann Sims Haugen and husband Ken of Houston, Mrs. Karen Lynn Sims Sheffield and husband Jim of Spring, and one great grandson Tyler Carl Haugen of Houston. Also surviving are one sister Mrs. Ollie Mae Mahnke of Columbus, one sister-in-law Mrs. Edna Froelich of Cuero, and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Otto and Emilie Hahn, husband Ernest W. Froelich, sister and brother-in-law Millie Mae and Wilburn Viereck and brother-in-law Alfred Froelich.
