Thursday, September 13, 1973 Obituary Mr. Paul Fisher Paul Fisher, prominent businessman and rancher, passed away in the Santa Fe Hospital in Temple at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 1973. He had been in failing health for the past three years. Funeral services for Mr. Fisher were held from the Chapel of the Pete E. Etlinger Funeral Home in Bellville at 4 p m. on Sunday , September 9, with Pastor Alvis Bell officiating. Interment was in the Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Wharton, Robert Abel, Donald Abel, Charlie Johnson, Eddie Montgomery, Red Gollmer and Carl Bradley. Mr. Fisher was born in Bellville on January 25, 1916, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Fisher. He was reared in Bellville and attended the Bellville Public School and also Blinn College. Mr. Fisher operated Fisher's Grocery and Market here for many years. He was also employed by the Santa Fe Railroad and was prominent in the ranching field. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bellville and also of the Sons of Herman Lodge. On April 7, 1940, Mr. Fisher was married to the former Ina Acock in ceremonies performed in Bellville. Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Ina Fisher of Bellville; son, Doug Fisher of Bellville; sisters, Mrs. Nonnie Schavrda of Houston, Mrs. Annie Bell Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Blanche Mathews of Sillwater, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Bob Tarver of Houston; brothers, Leon, Raymond and Lester Fisher, all of Bellville, and Chester Fisher of San Francisco, California; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. |
