Lee Roy Meier, age 86, of Brenham, husband of Nora Meier, passed away Monday evening at Gazebo Terrace Skilled Care and Rehabilitation. Lee Roy was born September 17, 1928 in the Phillipsburg community to Otto and Caroline Honerkamp Meier. He was baptized January 13, 1929 by Pastor Julius Holm at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg. He was confirmed March 29, 1942 at St. Paul Phillipsburg by Rev. A.T. Kluge and his confirmation verse was: “Therefore being justified by Faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Rom. 5:1 Lee Roy was married to Nora Naumann on October 22, 1950 by Rev. H. Brunotte at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg and their wedding verse was: Whither thou goest I will go and where thou lodgest, I will lodge. “Thy people shall be my people and thy God my God.” Ruth 1;16. Lee Roy was engaged in farming and also in the feed business. Later, he did carpentry and building work, and also worked with the help of both of his sons. He was also employed at Blinn College in Brenham for over 10 years before retiring. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, dominoes and spending time with his family. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Phillipsburg where he participated in the Men’s group and sang in the choir. He attended school in the Kenney area and Bellville High School. Lee Roy is survived by his wife Nora; children Donald and wife Miranda, Darrell and wife Cheryl; grandchildren: Christopher and Carra Meier, Adrienne Meier, and Nicholas Vierus and wife Erin and great grandchildren Carter and Cooper Vierus. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Ruth Kelling and Ruby Naumann. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Caroline Meier; in-laws, Louis and Clara Naumann, brother, Leslie and wife Ernestine; Sisters and brothers- in-law: Esther and Henry Haar and Melvin and Lucille Kiemsteadt, brothers and sisters in law Herbert Naumann, Otto and Elsie Kemper, Arnold and Evelyn Naumann, Erna nd Erwin Grawunder, Lillie Mae and Johnnie Kramer and Daniel Kelling. Services for Lee Roy Meier were held on Friday, February 6th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg with Pastor Robert Sorensen officiating. Burial was in the Phillipsburg church cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. His nephews served as pallbearers.
