Milton E. Koehler, 97, of Wharton, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at a Hillje nursing center. He was born in Pierce, Texas on October 28, 1921 to the late Ernest and Clara Richter Koehler.
Milton was raised in the Cresent area and graduated from Cresent High School. He later served our country honorably in the United States Air Force. On February 20, 1949, he married Emma Lynn Dujka in Rosenberg. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2005. Milton was the Farmers Insurance Agent for the Wharton area for over 40 years. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, spending time outdoors, gardening, especially his roses, and going to try his luck at gambling. He was a member of St John Lutheran Church in Wharton and a member of the American Legion Post 87. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Popp, and her husband, Edwin. Milton is survived by his loving companion, Angie Klimple of Wharton; and niece, Elaine Reck and husband, Robert; and nephews, Cedric Popp and wife, JoAnn, and Mark Popp ,all of El Campo; along with numerous nieces and nephews from Emma's side of the family. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019, starting at 9 am at St. John Lutheran Church in Wharton, with funeral services starting at 11 am with Rev. Robert Lutjens officiating. Burial will follow in Krasna Cemetery near Wallis at 3 pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Otto, Eric Otto, Glenn Stracik, Robert Reck, Michael Beard, John Dujka, and Mark Dujka.
