Wayne Martin Dimmel, 81 of Bellville, Texas and formerly of Cambridge, Wisconsin passed away peacefully after a two year battle with cancer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellville, Texas on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013. Wayne was born on Dec. 2, 1931 to Martin O. Dimmel and Mabel Buchholtz Dimmel in Burlington, Wis. He attended Elementary School in London, Wis. and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1950. He graduated from Electronic School after serving in the Army from 1951 to 1953. He worked for Chicago & North Western Railroad and The Bank of Cambridge for 20 years as a cashier and loan officer. He owned The Arber Dell Inn for 6 years before moving to Texas where he worked at The Wayne Hotel in Bellville. He loved bowling, golfing, snow mobiling, traveling and water skiing. He was a Past Master of the Mason’s Social Lodge 245 in Cambridge, Wisconsin and in Bellville, Texas, as well as a member of the American Legion in Bellville; and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville for 32 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sister Janet Cunningham, brothers-in-law Robert Cunningham, Roger McClary, and Gary Millard, in-laws Eldeen and Glenn Millard, nieces Danielle Novak and Crystalynn Meyer and step-grandson Christopher Dimmel. He is survived his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Dimmel, son Kevin (Linda) Dimmel of Eden Prairie, Minn., daughter Robin (Rick) Storlie of Deerfield, Wis., son Mark (Kathleen Abshier) Dimmel of Navasota, son Giandomenico (Elisabetta Pambieri) Malatesta of Fano, Italy, grandchildren Brandon Storlie of Madison, Wis., Elizabeth (Richard) Dimmel of Texas City, Hannah Dimmel of Navasota, Emanuele Malatesta, Giulia Malatesta and Alessandra Malatesta all of Fano, Italy, step-grandchildren Heidi Hart of Denver, Colo., Brandi (Joey) Cain of Oklahoma, step great-grandchildren Kate and Clay Cain of Oklahoma, in-laws, Barbara (Dan) Novak of Cobb, Wis., Greg (Sherry) Millard of Rochester, Minn. and Sheri (Jeff) Prellwitz of Ripon, Wis., as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Wayne loved his family and friends, and he never met a stranger. A memorial service was at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wayne’s memory to The American Cancer Society, Brazos Valley Hospice, St. Joseph Hospital of Bellville or to St. John Lutheran Church.
