Joyce Lynn Dean, 60, of Brenham, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility, Bryan, Texas. Joyce passed peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family, after a six-month battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Memorial Oaks Chapel, and the burial will follow in Germania Cemetery in Kenney, Texas.
Joyce was born in Bellville, Texas, to the late Burgess and Irene Goeke. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Education at Sam Houston State University and served the Brenham School District as a kindergarten teacher for 33 years. A devoted and loving wife and mother, Joyce’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, either at home or traveling near and far to see her two children. Joyce lived life to the fullest and her love of life was contagious - she was a beautiful light in the lives of the students she taught, her friends, and even those who knew her only knew briefly. And for her family, she was and will always be the source of their strength, happiness, and love. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Carolyn Dean; and brother-in-law, Nolan Wickel. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Billy F. Dean, of Brenham; daughter, Jenny Dean Pedrotta and her husband, Fabiano, of Lausanne, Switzerland; son, Jacob Dean and his wife, Theresa, of Princeton, New Jersey; brothers, Dewane Goeke and his wife, Ruth, of Brenham, and Roy Goeke, of Bellville; sister, Elaine Wickel, of Bellville; other relatives and many friends. |
