Life Celebrational Services for Tommie “Tomcat” Cooper were held Saturday Sept. 14, 2013 at Prairie View A.M.E. Church in San Felipe under the direction of Austin County Funeral Home. Tommie Cooper was born in New Ulm on July 3, 1944 to the late Lee Howard Cooper and Mrs. Willie Daisy Jones Cooper. Tommie confessed to Christ at an early age and rededicated his life on March 12, 2013 when he attended Bethel Baptist Church in Sealy. Tommie was inducted into the United States Army on Aug. 17, 1965. He served 8 years as a Private (p) E-1 where he received a Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal for Expert (Rifle) Combat Engineer and a Bronze Medal Service Star. He was a father figure, mentor, role model, leader and a person of influence to many. On Dec. 14, 1983, Tommie married his beloved wife of 29 years, Esther Ruth Brown. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Minister Esther Ruth Cooper, two daughters, Chinetta Jackson and Patricia Jointer (Marvin). A God Daughter Rev. Bridgette Browning: Sisters: Florence Jackson, WIllie Ann Cooper and Shirley Cooper. Brother: Rev. Antone Cooper (Rosie Mae) and Johnnie Cooper. Grandchildren, Trenton, La’Tiffany, William Jackson lll Brittany and Madison Jointer. Special Mother Annie Bell Scranton: Special Friends Debra Jointer and Hazel McDonald. Tommie final resting place was a the family cemetery Pope Cemetery New Ulm to where he received his military honors by taps being played and flag folding ceremony by the United States Army.
