Funeral Services for Edwin Marek, 87, of Bellville, Texas, 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 8, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church Faith Center with Rev. Jennie Jones and Rev. David Henske co-officiating. Interment in Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers are John Thomas Marek, Stephen Marek, Justin Dittmar, Logan Kirk, Leroy Grebe, Jr., and Ronny Robertson. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Beham, Robert Kramer and Wes Blackmon.
Edwin Gilbert Marek was born on February 14, 1923 in Industry, Texas to parents, John and Bohuslava Marek. Edwin attended Industry Public School, received his GED at Blinn College and his Accociate degree in accounting. He married the former Miss Patsy Froebel on September 4, 1953 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. Mr. Marek served our country in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War. Edwin worked for 27 years as bookkeeper for San Bernard Electric, as Real Estate Broker and Owner/Operator of Marek Real Estate. He was a member of the Lions Club, VFW, American Legion, St. John Church Council and Church, Bellville ISD School Board, Texas Association of Realtors and the Bellville Little League. Edwin received the following awards, Bellville Citizen of the Year in 1962, Realtor of the year in 1994, First Recipient of Bellville Chamber of Commerce "President's Pioneer Award" in 2007 and First President of Bellville Little League. Edwin Marek passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in Bellville. Mr. Marek is survived by his wife, Patsy Marek of Bellville, children, Tommy Dittmar and wife Ginger of Breckenridge, Richard Marek and wife Susie of Sealy, David Marek and wife Gana of Bellville, John Paul Marek and wife Susan of Bellville and Mary Beth Kirk and husband Greg of Katy, grandchildren, Lindy Dittmar, Justin Dittmar, Stephen Marek, Audra Marek, Haley Beham and husband Matthew, Sara Marek, Lauren Marek, Stephanie Marek, Mary E. Marek, John T. Marek, Hannah Kirk and Logan Kirk, great grandchildren, Thomas Taylor, Caroline and Hannah Dittmar, sister-in-law, Flora Marek of Industry and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bohuslava Marek, sisters, Lydia Bravanec and Slavina Rinn, brothers, John, Eddie, Otto and Henry Marek.
