Mama’s legacy
On May18, 1941 Mrs. Emma Flanagan was blessed with a beautiful bouncing baby girl named Bobbie Jean Johnson. She attended Brown College and Goodwill public schools then later graduated from Prairie View A&M Culinary Institute. Bobbie was employed as a domestic worker for many years as well at Sweetbriar Nursing Home, Shape Center then finally retiring from Washington County in 2001. Bobbie confessed her belief in Christ at an early age being baptized by Rev. Ed Mann at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Washington Texas. She later moved her membership to Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, Independence Texas. At Liberty she served faithfully as president of the usher board, mission/cafeteria committees, stewardess as well as many other capacities. Bobbie married Aron Stringfellow, Jr. on May 18, of 1976. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister in Law and Friend. Reunited with her in death are her mother, husband, sons Bert Johnson and John Johnson, Sr., brothers James Juston and Ira Meredith, grandchildren Darrell and Tanicka Smith, brothers in law Sam Stringfellow, Sr. and Thomas Cox, father and mother in law Aron and Stella Stringfellow Sr. Bobbie leaves to cherish and forever hold her memories are her loving and devoted children Viedelia Marshall (William),Curtis Taylor (Glaydys), Terrell Nickerson (Feon), Ervin Johnson (Viva), Mary Smith (Felix), James Sweed, Thomas Sweed (Charlotte), Adrian Jackson (Lawrence), TaShonda Cunningham (Milton), daughter in law Barbara Johnson, sister Vernell Cox, brother Prince Rogers, special niece Sarah Thomas, sisters and brothers in laws Lucas Stringfellow (Joann), Thomas Stringfellow (Ruth), Stella Stringfellow, Dorothy Flowers, Hattie Briscoe (Rev. Joe Briscoe), Lucille Howard (Joe), Birdie Mays, Agnes Chapel (Freddie), Fred Stringfellow (Sylvia), Elizabeth Stringfellow, Tarasha Meredith, 35 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, special friends Dorothy Howard, Emma Broaden, Helen Gardner, Mary Watkins and a hosts of other family members and friends |
