Edgar Zanek, Jr. was born to Edgar Zanek, Sr. and Esther Lillie Maresh in the New Bremen Community on Oct. 3, 1930. He passed away on Dec. 18, 2013. Edgar worked at miscellaneous maintenance jobs over the years, but his favorite was working with the teachers and students of B.I.S.D. as maintenance man and campus mail delivery. He was known as “Mr. Edgar” to all. He retired August of 2010 after 21 years. Edgar is preceded in death by parents, Edgar and Esther Zanek; brother, Kerby Zanek and daughter, Judy Zanek Gloyna. He is survived by wife of 60 years, Doris Zanek; sister, June Hart; son, Jim Zanek and wife Heather of Bryan; son-in-law, Dennis Gloyna of College Station; six grandchildren, Amy Gloyna Alvarado and husband Jason of College Station; Staff Sergeant Joshua Zanek and wife Ashley of McGuire A.F.B., New Jersey and Karri, Jaden, Jaxton and Katie Zanek of Bryan; three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ashlynn and Ian Alvarado of College Station; nephew, Nathan Zanek; niece, Amy Voelkel. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel, 842 E. Main St., Bellville, Texas. A Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 N. Holland, Bellville, Texas Pastor Schwertlich officiated.
