Final Rites For
Mother Edna Cleveland Mother Edna Cleveland passed into Eternal Rest on Monday, January 12, 1976, at 9:00 a.m., at the home of her daughter in Houston, Texas. She was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Amos Dotson, on February 21, 1897, in Bellville, Austin County, Texas, where she grew up and attended school. Miss Dotson was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Saul Cleveland in the year of 1916. Two children blessed this union. She confessed Christ under the leadership of the late Reverend E. J. Anderson, in the year 1938, at the age of forty-one, and united with Macedonia Baptist Church, Sealy, Texas. Here she served faithfully and reverently. Later, in the year of 1970, she chose the Holy Temple of Jesus Christ Church, Sealy, Texas, under Pastor Evvie Lee Johnson, as her church home. Her work as a devout Christian continued, and she, with much love and respect, became "Mother Cleveland", in her church. Mother Cleveland leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted husband, Mr. Saul Cleveland of Sealy, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Vercias M. Cay of Houston, Texas; a son, Mr. Robert Cleveland of Sealy, Texas; three grandchildren, Mrs. Virginia Davis and Mrs. Arleine Ray, both of Houston, Texas, and Mr. William Cay of Abilene, Texas; and ten great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn her demise are: one sister, Mrs. Lola Bonner; and one brother, Mr. Ranzy Dotson of Bellville, Texas; many other relatives, and a host of sorrowing friends. We all loved her dearly and will miss her very much; therefore we shall forever revere the legacy of love, kindness and happiness she left to us. Funeral Service: Saturday, January 17, 1976, at 1:00 p.m., Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church, Bellville, Texas, the Reverend T. A. Page, pastor, the Reverend Sister E. Johnson, officiating. Active Pallbearers: Messers Willie McDonald, Bennie Zellis, Bruce Edward Downey, John Simon, A. C. Hill, and Wilmer Dennis Cloud. Honorary Pallbearers: Messrs Amos Dotson, Sam Dotson, Jr., Paul Cleveland, Tilford Cleveland, Henry Cleveland, and James Cleveland.
