August 19, 1954 Mrs. Auguste Caletka Rites Held Tuesday in Bellville Funeral services for Mrs. Auguste Caletka of Eagle Lake were held from the Pete E. Etlinger Funeral Home in Bellville at 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 17 with interment in the St. John's Lutheran cemetery in Cat Spring. Rev. W.A. Menking of Bellville officiated. Pallbearers were Ervin Kinkler, Gerhardt Michaelis, Eldert Michaelis, Richard CAT SPRING CEMETERY aka Kollatschny, Edwin Eckhardt & Jerry Skalak. Mrs. Caletka was born & reared in the Newburg community near Cat Spring, June 21, 1871, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Louis Michaelis. She was christened and confirmed in the Newburg church and attended the Brettschneider school near Cat Spring. On November 29, 1894, she married Charles Caletka at the family residence. He died on August 17, 1932. She died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, August 15 in Brenham after an illness of about 6 years. The deceased was 83 years, 1 month and 24 days of age and was a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge in Cat Spring. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Chas. Renz of Eagle Lake; one son, Alfred Caletka of Cat Spring, one brother Richard Michaelis of Cat Spring & 4 grandchildren. Posted by Natalie McLain -- THE BELLVILLE TIMES August 19, 1954 Mrs. Charles Caletka Dies in Brenham At Age 83 Mrs. Charles Caletka, a native of the Newburg community near Cat Spring, died in Brenham after an illness of about six years. She was 83 years of age. The Rev. W.A. Menking, pastor of the Bellville Methodist church officiated at rites held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of the Etlinger Funeral home. Pallbearers were Erwin Kinkler, Gerhard Michaelis, Richard Edwin Eckardt and Jerry Skalak. Interment was at St. John's Lutheran cemetery at Cat Spring.The Etlinger Funeral home directed the services. Mrs. Caletka was the former Miss Augusta Michaelis, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Michaelis. She was born June 21, 1871. As a child she attended the Bretschneider school, and was confirmed and baptized in the old Newburg church. She was a member of the SPSJT lodge of Cat Spring. On November 29, 1894, she was married to the late Charles Caletka who preceded her in death Aug. 17, 1932. Surviving are one son, Alfred Caletka of Cat Spring; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Renz of Eagle Lake; a brother, Richard Michaelis of Cat Spring, and four grandchildren. Posted by Natalie McLain |
