Broz, 95, of Bleiblerville, passed away and went to his heavenly home on Friday, May 3, 2019 in Brenham, Texas.

Eddie was born on June 9, 1923 in Bleiblerville, Texas. Son of the late John and Francis Broz. He attended the Victoria Public School. He was baptized on June 30, 1923 and received first holy communion on July 5, 1931 at Industry Catholic Church. Eddie met the love of his life Mada Marie Goeke and they were married on June 19, 1944 at Industry Catholic Church. After being married for only 2 months he was drafted to the U.S. Army where he served in the 410th Infantry Company G in France. He was wounded and received an Honorable Discharge on July 16, 1945 and received a Bronze Service Star and the Purple Heart Award. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bellville, Bleiblerville Volunteer Fire Department, the American Legion Post 115, VFW Post 6552, Purple Heart Chapter 1919, and DAV Post 139. He retired from the Texas Highway Department on December 31, 1985 after 23 years of service.

Eddie had a sense of humor that stayed with him until the end. He enjoyed working in his garden and his well-manicured lawn. His hobbies included playing cards and dominos with family and friends, fishing, hunting, and watching baseball and football.

Eddie is survived by his daughters, Peggy Draehn, Betty Draehn and Gene Cripps; his grandchildren, Tina and Brion Webb, David and Lisa Draehn, Jason and Lacye Draehn, Vicky and Brent Rust, Wendy and Chance Bolten; his great grandchildren, Claire and Jeff Breitschopf, Colin Reue, Dawson Draehn, Rylan Draehn, Remi Draehn, Haley Rust, Abby Rust, Brayden Bolten, Jaxon Bolten, and step granddaughter Mariah Webb Seeker and husband Colby, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mada Marie of 72 years, parents John and Frances Broz, step brother Joe Plasek, brother and sister-in-law Johnnie and Georgia Broz, sister and brother-in-law Tillie and Erwin Schmidt.

Pallbearers: Henry Abel, Jr., Eddie Schmidt, Gilbert Goeke, Jr., Chance Bolten, Brent Rust, David Draehn, Jason Draehn, Ronnie Robertson. Honorary Pallbearers: Gene Cripps, Brion Webb, Gary Kinniger, Jerrell Schovajsa, DeWayne Goeke, Adolph Wehmeyer.
