Jeanette “Nana” Bodungen of El Campo, formerly of Cat Spring, passed away Oct. 22, 2011 in Houston at the age of 83. She was born March 16, 1928 in Cat Spring to Jerry and Minnie Wolchik Skalak.

She is survived by her companion and friend of many years, Clarence Himly of El Campo; daughters, Janis Ritz and Carolyn Ermis of El Campo; sister, Lonnie L. Michaelis of Cat Spring; grandchildren, James Garner of Beeville, Lisa Krenek and husband Todd of Garwood, Kim Staff and husband Mark of Louise, Shannon Ritz and companion Carol Triplet of El Campo and Blake Ritz and wife Brandi of El Campo; great-grandchildren, Clayton Watz, Cheyenne, Taylor and Austin Garner, Savannah Garner, Kori Staff, Camille Ritz and Kennedy and Conner Ritz; step-great-grandchildren, Travis Staff and wife Amy and Justin Staff; step-great-great-grandchild Tanner Staff and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Shelley Faye Ham; sons-in-law, Bryan Ritz and Wilbur Ermis and former husband, Clyde Bodungen.

Jeanette worked at Ritz Food Mart #4 in the Deli for over 25 years. She and Clarence always loved going to polka dances and she was a member of POLKofA. She enjoyed gardening and still went deer hunting each year.

Visitation began at 2 p.m. Monday at Triska Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Todd Krenek, Shannon Ritz, Blake Ritz, Clayton Watz, Mark Staff and Emmitt Hargrove. Honorary pallbearers are James Garner, Cheyenne Garner, Kori Staff, Savannah Garner, Taylor Garner, Austin Garner, Kennedy Ritz, Conner Ritz, Camille Ritz, Justin Staff, Travis Staff and Tanner Staff.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of El Campo; St. John Lutheran Church of Cat Spring or the Cat Spring Volunteer Fire Dept., 10943 FM 949, Cat Spring, TX 78933.

Lonie Lee Skylak born 4 Mar 1920 married Elbert Arthur Michaelis 9 Dec 1939 in Austin County.

Elbert Arthur Michaelis was the son of Richard Michaelis and Annie Brune. All buried in St. John Lutheran Cemetery/aka Cat Spring.
