Majewski, Jerome Lee
Obituary
2024
Jerome “Jerry” Lee Majewski was born on January 20th, 1941, to Frank and Albina Majewski of Davison, Michigan. Jerry spent his childhood in Muskegon, Michigan with his parents, brothers (Ronald and Richard), and sisters (Nancy and Donna Jean).

Jerry enlisted in the United States Army, and for the next two decades, he traveled the world, serving at bases in Japan, Germany, Iran, Ethiopia, Greece, and throughout the United States. He was a hero who served his country with great pride and built a family who would grow up hearing all of his stories. He was definitely a top-notch storyteller! He had a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat with the tales of his adventures in the Army. He could keep you rolling in laughter because he always found humor, even in the most mundane of life’s circumstances. Just as importantly, he was a good listener. He was patient, kind, and always had the right thing to say – whether it be warm words of praise or encouragement or the tough truths without any sugar coating.

In April of 1980, after more than 20 years of service as an NCO and having attained the rank of Sergeant First Class, Jerry retired from the U.S. Army at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. He pursued his passion for photography all across the Great State of Texas, capturing everything from family portraits to wildlife shots, the big Texas skies, and even headshots for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. His work was published in The San Antonio Times, Canyon Lake Country Sun, Texas Hill Country View, and many more. He eventually went on to open his own photo lab and studio in Taos, New Mexico in 1989. As much as he enjoyed life in the high desert, he closed up shop and moved back to Texas to be closer to family in 2000. He worked for another few years as a photographer for Lifetouch where he traveled around the Houston area taking portraits before he fully retired in 2007.

In his retirement, Jerry had a passionate love affair with fishing, his photography, and strawberry Jell-O cake. He also enjoyed woodworking, particularly making birdhouses for all of his feathered friends. He always looked forward to family game nights – especially those where he absolutely crushed the entire family at Trivial Pursuit. His more recent hobbies included watching TV at full volume with a glass of bourbon in hand and flirting with his nurses.

Jerry passed away on April 30th, at the age of 83. He is survived by his sister, Donna Jean; children, Tammy, Kim, Jeff (Rachel), and Robin (Jon); grandchildren, Corrie, Alex, Keirstin, Paige, Jon, Elena, Viviana, Sarah, Loryn, Kylie, and Tabitha; sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Albina; brothers, Ronald and Richard; sister, Nancy; and daughter, Debbi.

All of these wonderful things are just a fraction of who Jerry was. There are a million more special, simple moments that made up his extraordinary life. He is dearly missed.

Family and friends are invited to join us for a memorial service to celebrate Jerry’s life and legacy at 11 am on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at First United Methodist Church, 200 Atchison Street, Sealy, Texas.

It was Jerry’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to The Wounded Warrior Project.
