Funeral Services for Annie J. Stavinoha, 93, of Wallis, were held Monday, February 17, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, with Father Richard Johnston officiating.

Mrs. Stavinoha passed away Saturday, February 15, at her home in Wallis.

She was born in Schulenburg on August 12, 1909, the daughter of Henry and Agnes Smajstrla, moving to Wallis when she was three years old. She attended school in Wallis, married John Stavinoha in October 1934, and raised five children, devoting her life to being a mother and housewife. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons, Marvin, James and his wife, Evelyn, and Gerald and his wife, Tweety, of Wallis; two daughters, Bernice of Wallis and Ellen Bordelon of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Seven grandchildren survive: Andrew Stavinoha of El Campo, Erika Bordelon Cook and husband, SSgt Jeffrey Cook, and Emily Bordelon of Albuquerque, NM, Jennifer Stavinoha of East Bernard, Jamie Stavinoha Klotz and husband, Brian Klotz, of Simonton, Tonya and Pamela Stavinoha of Wallis; as well as two great-grandchildren, Shelby Klotz and Tanner Stavinoha.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Sister Mary Ellen Smajstrla; and half-sister, Sophie Smajstrla Janik.

Pallbearers were Mrs. Stavinoha's grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were Ssgt. Jeffrey Cook and Louis Jalowy, Jr.

Funeral services were under the direction of Knesek and Sons Funeral Home in Wallis.
